1. Hi Monalisa! It’s such a pleasure to have you here. For those who may not know you, could you tell us a bit about yourself—who you are and the work you do?
A: My name is Monalisa Jideofor, a multifaceted creative who can’t be put in a box.
I’m a creative director, brand storyteller, creative strategist, and writer. I write copy, scripts, and everything in between. Depending on who I’m talking to, I might
describe myself differently but at my core, I’m just a creative who wants to create and share meaningful work with the world.
2. Let’s take it back a little, what was growing up like for you? Were there any early signs that storytelling would one day be your path?
A: Looking back, the signs weren’t exactly obvious. I was a curious and active child, I loved to read, but I also loved to fix things. It wasn’t until my final years of primary school that I realized I was a pretty good writer. I loved playing with figures of speech in compositions, and got good grades. But I didn’t think much of it then because I was doing well in other subjects too.
3. Let’s talk about Moxie & Mo. What was the big idea behind building your own creative agency? What gap did you see, and how has your vision for it evolved since you started?
A: Moxie & Mo was a divine idea. A beautiful and terrifying idea that took me months to finally share with the world.
In 2023, while working a 9-5, I started helping a company create and manage their
online content. I took it on at the time because I needed an extra source of income.
But then I realized that I not only enjoyed it, I was actually good at it.
Later that year, I had an epiphany. So many businesses were doing amazing but didn’t know how to sell themselves…and I could help them. That’s how Moxie & Mo was born.
It started with a focus on brand storytelling, but the vision has evolved into offering creative solutions for visibility and growth. From scripting to video production, strategy to content creation, Moxie & Mo is always ready to deliver.
4. As a storyteller who operates across industries, from entertainment to corporate brands—how do you stay rooted in your own voice while adapting to different Audiences?
A: I’ve found that my voice always sneaks in whether I’m writing for a skit or a corporate campaign. The tone might change, but there’s always a hint of my style in the rhythm or the way the words land.
To make sure I stay rooted, I just listen to what the brand needs, then make sure to blend it with my creative instincts and style.
5. You describe yourself as a storyteller, creative strategist, and writer. How do these roles intersect for you—and which one do you feel most at home in?
A: Someone recently introduced me as a communications expert and although I’d
never called myself that, it really hit the mark. Whether I’m writing copy for a toothpaste brand, developing a script for a skit, or building a content strategy for a
real estate client, it all comes down to the same thing: communication. Telling a story. Passing a message across.
As for which role feels most like home? That’s tough. But writing in general takes me to the zone and I love being in ‘the zone’.
6. You’ve worked with powerful names—Ariyiike Dimples, Ruggedman, Mr. Macaroni’s team, and more. But beyond the names, which project has stayed with you emotionally, or challenged you in a way you didn’t expect?
A: Scripting and producing the 5-year anniversary documentary for TBO Consulting will always have a special place in my heart. I didn’t want it to feel like a typical
corporate documentary. I wanted it to have an emotional arc of some sort. It did and it turned out so beautifully.
7. We often talk about impact in the creative space, but what does impact mean to you personally?
A: For me, impact means moving people and inspiring them to see things differently.
If my work makes even one person think differently or smile, that’s impact for me. It’s not a numbers game.
8. What does a creatively fulfilling day look like for you?
A: A day when I start and finish things. When the ideas in my head finally make it onto the page or screen. So basically, days when I see the creative process through to the end.
9. Do you ever struggle with doubt or burnout? What grounds you when the work starts to feel heavy?
A: Absolutely! I struggle a lot with imposter syndrome especially when something I create does really well or I hit a major milestone. It’s like my mind starts to play games with me. Fortunately, I have amazing friends and a partner who remind me of the power in my mind and my work. But most importantly, I’m learning to be kinder
to myself, to give myself my flowers and to remember that I am, in fact, that girl.
10. If you stripped away titles—writer, creative director, strategist—who is Monalisa at her core?
A: A joyful human who loves to laugh, travel, and live fully. Someone who’s trying, day by day, to embody love and spread kindness to everyone she meets.
